Disney Height Requirements

Disney World has many attractions for everyone to enjoy. However, there are height requirements for certain attractions that are set in place to keep everyone in the park safe. It might feel that there are not enough rides to enjoy if you are traveling with a little ones but there is plenty to see and do for everyone.

Preparing for Disney

While you are planning out your Disney vacation, measure your child with their shoes on to see what their height is. This way you can plan what rides to go on and what rides to skip. There is also a Rider Switch option that allows your group to split into 2 groups. The first riders will go on the ride while the second group waits with the child who did not meet the height requirement. After the first group is some with their ride, the second group can swap places and the second group can go on the ride.

Check out my “how to guide” on how Rider Switch works. I have included graphs of where you can use the Rider Switch pass and what to do when you are waiting for your group to finish the ride.

It is also a good idea to measure your child before you leave to Disney. Children sometimes have growth spurts. It’s a good idea just to double check.

Here another tip that I used with my children. I measured my children before we went to Disney. We discussed what rides they will not be able to go on. We also discussed all the rides that they will be going on. This really helped when we were at Disney. Even though they were disappointed that they couldn’t ride certain rides, they were happy knowing that there were many other rides that they could get on.

Checking the Child’s Height at the Parks

Cast Members are trained to spot children who might not meet the height requirements. If they feel like your child is too short, they will ask to check your child’s height. The Cast Members do this for the child’s safety. I have seen parents get mad at the Cast Members because they won’t let their child on the ride because they do not meet the height requirement.
