A brand new transportation system is coming to the Walt Disney World Resort. A new gondola system is being installed called Disney Skyliner. The Disney Skyliner will add even more magic to your future vacation experiences. Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts just announced at the D23 expo that the Disney Skyliner will soon give guests a bird’s-eye view of Walt Disney World Resort.
The transportation system will connect Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot with Disney’s Art of Animation, Pop Century, the new DVC Disney Riviera Resort, Caribbean Beach resorts and other locations. The gondolas carts will feature favorite Disney characters.
“Since we’re all about exceeding guest expectations and making every aspect of your vacation uniquely Disney, we’re creating a new point-to-point transportation service in a way that only Disney can do,” Bob said.
The Magic Kingdom use to have a gondola system called Skyway. The Skyway use to transport guests from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland. The Skyway first opened in October of 1971 and closed in November of 1999.
The Tomorrowland gondola station was removed in 2009 and the Fantasyland station was used to park strollers and later on removed to make way for the Tangled themed bathrooms. Now, 18 years later, Disney is bring back the gondola system. This system will be different because it will transport guest to Epcot and Hollywood Studios as well as other Walt Disney World resorts.
The new locations of the gondola was introduced by Disney Parks Chairman Bob Chapek. He showed off Skyliner’s five stages and six stations at the D23 convention. This is where the new gondola system, Disney Skyline, will be.
