There are many ticket choices when traveling to Disney. Let’s look at the different options. Think about how many days you will be at the parks, if you want to park hop and/or if you want to go to the Disney water parks. I have a guide of what tickets are available.
Which ticket should I buy?
It all depends on you and your traveling party. For some people the base tickets are great because they don’t like the hassle of traveling from park to park. However, there are other people who enjoy park hopping going to one park in the mornings and to another in the afternoon. This is a choice that you will have to make on your own.
On February 2016, Walt Disney World introduced the tiered 1-day the three tiers are called Peak, Regular and Value. Peak tickets are offered during the most popular and busiest time of the year like spring break, summer and the holiday seasons, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. Regular priced tickets are sold when the crowd level is moderate during some parts of the spring, summer and fall. Value priced tickets are sold when the crowds are lighter to entice guests to come to Walt Disney world. I have made a chart of my projection for 2017 tier ticket pricing. Please keep in mind that this is just for planning purposes.
- Peak tickets are only valid during Peak, Regular and Value dates. Regular tickets are only available during Regular or Value season dates. Value tickets are only valid during the Value season date.
- 1 Day tickets must be used by December 31, 2017. Any unused ticket can be used to buy a new ticket for the current price as long as the original ticket price is equal to greater than the current price.

Magic Your Way Base Tickets
With Magic Your Way Base Tickets, you can choose the number of days you want to visit the theme parks – Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom. The base ticket is only good for ONE park admission per day.
Let’s say that you are spending your day at Epcot but you have dinner reservations that same day at Be Our Guest which is located at Magic Kingdom. You cannot go to Magic Kingdom that day. You only have a base ticket which is only good for ONE park admission per day. Be sure to make dinner reservations at the park you will be attending that day or at a nearby Walt Disney Resort.
You do have the option add optional the Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus for an additional fee.
The Magic Your Way Base Tickets will expire 14 days from the first use. So if you don’t use all of the tickets, you lose it. That is why it is important to know exactly how many days you will visit the Disney parks. Also, theses tickets cannot be transferred to any other person.
If you are going to stay 4 days, the tickets would be $81.25 per person per day plus tax. If you were staying 10 days, the tickets would be $40.00 per person per day plus tax. That is about 50% savings.
Park Hopper Option
If you have plans on going to two different parks in one day then you will need a Park Hopper Ticket. Park Tickets allow entry to more than one theme park per day. You can visit all four parks in a single day- Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. Just like the base ticket, the Hopper Tickets will expire 14 days from the first use. So if you don’t use all of the tickets, you lose it.
Let’s say that you are spending your day at the Magic Kingdom but you have dinner reservations that same day at Chefs de France which is located at Epcot. With the Park Hopper Ticket, you will be able to go to the Magic Kingdom and later on to Epcot all on the same day!
Park Hopper Plus Option
Walt Disney World has two water parks: Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach. If you are set on going to a water park during your Disney vacation, you can purchase the Park Hopper Plus tickets based on the number of days in your ticket or package.
In addition to the water parks, you can enjoy Disney’s Oak Trail golf course, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Disney’s Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf, and Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf.
Where should I buy the tickets from?
There are some pros and some cons in buying tickets directly from Disney:
Pro – If you are staying at a Walt Disney World property, you can get a discounted rate on the tickets the longer you stay on their property.
Con – If you are just buying the tickets from Disney, you will be paying full price for the tickets.
I recommend using Undercover Tourist. They are a reputable company and they have been around for year. Undercover Tourist sells authentic Walt Disney World tickets at discounted prices. You can find good deals like the 4-Day Park Hopper – plus extra day free meaning that you get a 5-Day Ticket for the Price of a 4-Day! That’s a great deal. For more ticket information click here:
Beware of Reseller
Caution, if it’s too good to be true, then it is. Be careful of ticket resellers. Keep in mind that Disney requires guests to scan their finger along with their ticket to verify that they are the person who bought the tickets. For example, if you purchase a ticket from a reseller, ebay or Craigslist, from a person who bought a 4 day ticket but only used 2, the ticket was initially assigned to that person and their finger print will not match up to yours. There is a good change that you will lose your tickets and the money you spent on them.
Are you up to a challenge? The challenge is go to and from all four of the Disney World Parks in a single day- Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. Have you ever done this? I would love to hear your Park Hopper Challenge stories.
