Step 7 Make Touring Plans

Make the most of your theme park vacation with touring plans. What are touring plans? Touring Plans are decided on attractions and arranged in high priority order according to the time of day in order to maximize fun time and minimize the wait in lines. Following touring plans can save you 3-4 hours a day.

Timing

The best way to plan your itineraries is by the hour. If you try to make precise timed plans you might be unhappy when you don’t stay on time. Don’t expect to see and do everything in one day. Create your itinerary but keep in mind that life happens.

Don’t be disappointed if something unexpected happens and you cannot finish your planned itinerary. I say this from experience. Last year, one of my children got sick and we had to leave the Animal Kingdom after only being there less than an hour. We went back to our resort and I stayed with her the whole day while my husband took the other children to the pool. I even had to cancel our dinner reservations to one of our favorite restaurant, Sanaa.

Plan for your trip and plan for the unexpected. Remember to include water breaks, snack breaks and energizing breaks. Disney World is huge and the weather can take a toll on people. Stay hydrated!

Try to arrive to the parks 45-30 minutes before the park opens. This gives you enough time to get from the bus to the bag check point. After that, you can go through the tapstiles (it’s not a turnstile anymore, you just tape your MagicBand and go). Sometimes, Cast Members will allow guests into the part 15-10 minutes before the official park time. This is not always the case but won’t it be nice to be there early and have a Cast Member letting you in 15-10 minutes in before the office park time?

Magic Kingdom Early Morning

Try to arrive to the parks 30-20 minutes before the park opens. This year, Disney changed their morning opening procedures. You can read more about it here. The Magic Kingdom now opens an hour before the official opening. If the Magic Kingdom opens at 9:00 AM, the Cast Members let guests in at 8:00 AM. The shops and food places on Main Street U.S.A. will be opened at the time, as well as City Hall.

Guests will be allowed into the Cinderella’s Castle hub area. The morning show, “Let the Magic Begin” will take place on the forestage of Cinderella’s Castle 5 minutes before the official park opening. About 30-20 minutes before the opening show (around 8:30-8:40 AM), line up next to the rope to the land that you want to be in. You will not have a good viewing of the show if you stand by the rope, but you will have a good chance of being one of the first guest to be closest to ride of your choice and you might even get on the ride with little to no wait.

Epcot Early Morning

Try to arrive to the parks 45-30 minutes before the park opens. This will give you plenty of time to walk from the bus stop or from the monorail to the security checkpoint and then to tapstiles (it’s not a turnstile anymore, you just tape your MagicBand and go). Sometimes, Cast Members will allow guests into the park in front of the Tree of Life 15-10 minutes before the official park time. They will let guest come into the park in front of Spaceship Earth. This is not always the case but won’t it be nice to be there early and have a Cast Member letting you in 15-10 minutes in before the office park time? It does give you a head start to the most popular rides.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Early Morning

Try to arrive to the parks 45-30 minutes before the park opens. This will give you plenty of time to walk from the bus stop to the security checkpoint and then to tapstiles (it’s not a turnstile anymore, you just tape your MagicBand and go). Sometimes, Cast Members will allow guests into the park in front of the Tree of Life 15-10 minutes before the official park time. This is not always the case but won’t it be nice to be there early and have a Cast Member letting you in 15-10 minutes in before the office park time?

With the construction going of the Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land, there has been a lot of attraction closing. However, there is still plenty to do at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You can see everything in one day without have to really rush around the park.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Early Morning

Try to arrive to the parks 45-30 minutes before the park opens. This will give you plenty of time to walk from the bus stop to the security checkpoint and then to tapstiles (it’s not a turnstile anymore, you just tape your MagicBand and go). Sometimes, Cast Members will allow guests into the park in front of the Tree of Life 15-10 minutes before the official park time. This is not always the case but won’t it be nice to be there early and have a Cast Member letting you in 15-10 minutes in before the office park time?

With Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, it will be a little tricky to make a good touring plan. Just remember to make sure that you use your FastPass+ for popular attractions that tend to have long waits.
